Recaros too. That’s a good reason to get sporty seats.

Can’t drive a car you can’t fit in comfortably. ;)

Sacrifices have to be made.

Keeping the stock passenger seat solves that problem! Then it’s especially funny if you take a turn hard and watch them struggle to stay in the car while you just go about your business as usual.

It’s funny because I’m a 30 waist and my Bride seat is a tight fit. I can’t imagine most people trying to use my seat daily. It wouldn’t take much to be completely unable to fit. I know my roommate with like a 34 waist tried it and had to wedge himself in to the point where circulation was cut off haha.

That’s why they make racing seats in different sizes. On a related note, I remember being advised to by the larger 16" race seat instead of the 15" that fit my 17 year-old self so perfectly. That was a good piece of advice that I wish I had taken.

Yeah, I bought a project car off of a kid who was 5'9" and 150 lbs, he fit in the JIC Magic (knockoff or real? I have no idea) bucket seat perfectly. I was 160 myself, and it wasn’t really a problem when I test drove the car. Shortly after the purchase was made and it was sitting in my garage, I had a couple friends over who were physically unable to sit in the seat. We had a laugh.

Now that it’s been down for a few years while major changes are in the works, I realized that me creeping up to 175 lbs is probably an issue. It’ll be difficult to change the seat, as the hip bolsters of the narrow bucket already contact the roll cage—something wider likely isn’t an option. So, I’m on a diet and going to go back to the gym. Five down, ten more to go.

Haha a good motivator I guess. Yeah my seat barely fit as is. I had to push the seat as far over as possible on the mount just to get my door to shut. Dunno how wider people in Miatas ever install racing seats.

For giggles I tried sitting in some Bride knock offs, and I was astonished how tiny they are. I don’t think they’d be comfortable even for horse jockeys.

Its perfect for me, any wider and the damn thing would not fit in the car. Plus I wouldnt get much support if I was sliding around in the seat. It made my girlfriend feel self-concious though since it felt tight on her. That alone was my motivator of just keeping the stock passenger seat, no matter how goofy it looks.

That perfectly sums up my challenge. I’m not a small guy, but I want something that will get me lower than the factory seats. Finding something big enough for me that is still small enough to fit in the car isn’t easy.

Just get rid of the padding, then it will fit better. Just an aluminum box to sit in. Then it will fit! You could start with that and then add the minimum amount of padding yourself just to make it bearable.
